A B O U T J A M E S

History: James is the son of two English purebloods. He is the older of two children. His younger sister is fifth year Hufflepuff at Hogwarts. He is quite protective of Eliza. Their father holds a job in the Ministry while their mother entertains company. They attend Ministry and pureblood functions.

During his career at Hogwarts, James was dedicated and studious. He very rarely socialized outside of his own common room and could most frequently be found working on schoolwork or doing extra research. He fed his innate curiosity about dark magics with many secret trips to the Restricted Section of the library. When James did socialize, it was only with those of his own bloodclass. This is not to say that he was blatantly mean to those he considered his lessers. He merely did not seek out interactions with those people, preferring to maintain his friendships with his housemates and those he has known since childhood.

James' hard work paid off and he achieved the necessary scores to begin his career as a Healer once he finished Hogwarts (which was just last year). He hasn't been at St. Mungos for long, but he is quite successful for his age and he genuinely enjoys his job (even if it means he does have to occasionally treat those he sees as inferior to him).

Personality: James is an ambitious, focused young man. What he can't get done through his own charms, he'll get done by sheer drive and persistence. Outwardly he is charming, loving, and charitable. He is a Healer by profession and seems to have a real passion for helping people.

He can be quite selfish and vindictive when he wants to be, however. This mostly comes out when he feels his little sister is being mistreated. He can be quite obsessive when it comes to seeking revenge on those who have wronged her and he doesn't believe in getting only a little even - the word "moderation" is not in his vocabulary.

James is curious by nature and a combination of this natural curiosity and his upbringing have brought about a near obsessive desire to learn more about the "dark side" of life, specifically the dark magics that are so forbidden by TPTB in the magical world. His curiosity and ambition make him extremely susceptible to darker influences and being raised around these influences (plus spending seven years in Slytherin House) could definitely be used to corrupt him.

Strengths: Both magical and personality: James' protectiveness is both a strength and a weakness. At times, he genuinely is the nice guy he appears to be. There is nothing he wouldn't do for his sister or a close friend/other loved one, which most of the time is a good thing, because it helps to keep the people in his life safe.

Magically, James is best at Astronomy, Charms and Herbology. He's not exceptional in any subject, but these are the classes he did best in. His focus and ambition enabled him to do very well on his OWLs and NEWTs as he studied almost constantly, often at the expense of an active social life at school.

Weaknesses: Both magical and personality: James has a dark side to his personality. When properly pushed, he can be quite violent and vindictive. He is fully capable of performing the Avada Kedavra curse without blinking if given the proper motivation. Magically, he is relatively average. He achieved high scores on his OWLs and NEWTs because he studied hard during his time at Hogwarts. He was determined to get the scores necessary to become a healer. The one class he was horrible at was History of Magic. He has no head for History and memorization and he found the class downright boring. He didn't mind only getting a P on that OWL, because he didn't feel it would be very relevant to his future career anyway. Arithmancy and Ancient Runes were also challenging for him and even though he worked very hard at those subjects, he just barely achieved an A in them.

Fears: James' main fear is of something happening to Eliza. Their parents were very distant emotionally and a lot of times it feels like all he and Eliza have are each other. She is the single most important thing in his world and he worries constantly about something bad happening to her (especially with everything that has happened at Hogwarts this year).

A S T R O L O G Y

Scorpio is the eighth house of the Zodiac. Positive traits include magnetic charisma, ambition, drive, a penetrating mind, curiosity, intensity of focus, emotional depth, consistency, persistence, willpower, and the potential for inner transformation and regeneration; negative traits include selfishness, obsessiveness, vindictiveness, hypersensitivity, ruthlessness, cynicism, an inability to understand the word "moderation," and jealousy. They are attracted to the dark, twisted, and forbidden mysteries of the world from the day they are born, and only they can determine whether they will study the dark arts in order to oppose them, or to embrace them. However, as Scorpio is a sign of transformation and regeneration, it is not impossible for even the most evil of dark wizards to turn to the path of good... Scorpio Slytherins have uncanny wisdom, insight into human psychology, and high "emotional IQ's." They are incredibly ambitious, often exist in a state of total ego, and if misused or hurt, can nurse the wound and seethe for decades. Still, although they are often tempted to do horrible things in the name of glory or discovery, they nevertheless are often the kindest, most compassionate, and most forgiving people of all, for they have seen their own inner darkness, faced it, and do not run from it when they encounter it in others.

R E L A T I O N S H I P S

eh_dorminson: James is very protective of his younger sister Elizabeth. He's always felt a need to overcompensate for the emotional distance between her and their parents and he will get very angry towards anyone who he feels has bad intentions towards her. This extends to anyone he feels is not worthy of her company (ie, those who are less pure or who would try and sully her good upbringing). She really is his whole world and he would do anything for her.

anna_farley: Anna is Elizabeth's best friend. James doesn't know her very well, aside from having seen her around his sister, but she comes from a good family and he thinks she is a good friend to Eliza. And that is really all that matters.

williamfarley: Unaware as he is of his sister's crush on the boy, James has Will in mind as a good protector for his sister. After all, they are in the same house at school and James thinks Will is an alright bloke. Watch out, though, if Will ever rejects Eliza or makes her cry.

dreamingophelia: James and Aislin dated from January of April of his 6th year. They'd known each other for years before that - since before school even - and their parting was quite amicable. They both decided that a split was needed to focus on their studies and they remain good friends. James thinks the world of Aislin owls her quite frequently.
